The project

The scope of the project included the demolition of existing partitions, removal of suspended ceilings, carpets and other floor coverings, removal of sanitary-ware and WC cubicles. Reconfigured floor space to form offices, training rooms, computer room and toilets, associated mechanical and sanitary-ware, electrical and lighting and IT installation, erection of partitions, new door sets, new floor finishes, new suspended ceilings and decoration.

An extremely busy fire and rescue centre providing emergency response to Cardiff and the surrounding area. The station is committed to providing a 24-hour emergency facility. As such it was a key requirement to keep this lifesaving service fully operational whilst the refurbishment works were ongoing.

To ensure the site was fully operational the fire station watch manner was regularly about programming and key construction activities. The demolition work was programmed in small sections to allow access routes to be maintained. The site set up was planned with careful consideration fro the movement of service vehicles without disruption. This included tool drop off and collection procedure as no vehicles were allowed to park on site.

The contract was handed over on time and under budget.
